Have you ever watch a movie through an Integral lens of quadrants and levels of consciousness? If not, then you will have a whole new experience after Martin Uçik’s Integral framing at our weekly Integral Movie Night. Join us!

This week we will watch Her ( from an integral perspective.

Synopsis: A sensitive and soulful man earns a living by writing personal letters for other people. Left heartbroken after his marriage ends, Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) becomes fascinated with a new operating system which reportedly develops into an intuitive and unique entity in its own right. He starts the program and meets “Samantha” (Scarlett Johansson), whose bright voice reveals a sensitive, playful personality. Though “friends” initially, the relationship soon deepens into love.

Martin likes this movie, because we see how our minds long for verbal connection, even if there is no physical aspect (think texting, social media etc.). It is reminiscent of the Turing test of a machine’s ability to exhibit intelligent behavior equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human being. Something we are all increasingly faced with. The movie also shows how we can develop emotional intelligence, and how our relationships begin to struggle when our partner grows beyond our ability to connect. And lastly, we see the pain and confusion that we experience when the object of our love and desire goes away.

There will be much to talk about before, during and after the movie, so join us for this excursion into a not so distant future (or even our current reality).

Martin is a cinephile who attempts to see beyond the obvious plot, is curious about the character’s psychology, understand the levels of consciousness of the creators and characters, and brings up the deeper meaning of the movies plot. As a student of Integral philosophy, he loves movies that inspire and challenge us to think more deeply about ourselves, the world, and how we can realize our fullest potentials.

Martin is also curious about your insights and experiences, and wants to learn from you, as everyone is right from their own developmental and cultural perspective.

Integral Movie Nights are our cost-free social events where we treat you to beverages, pizza, bread, dessert, and Martin’s home-made salad. Be our guest at the Integral Center.
